Hello! I’m Marissa

Marissa D. Clinical Intern

EDUCATION & TRAINING

● MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
● Person-Centered Approach
● Trauma Informed Care

I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern New Hampshire University, driven by a deep curiosity about human behavior and a passion for helping individuals become their best selves. Originally from California, with roots in both the Bay Area and Los Angeles, I bring a diverse perspective and an open heart to my work at the counseling center.

My approach to counseling is rooted in creating a safe, empathetic, and collaborative space where clients feel heard and supported as they navigate life’s challenges and traumas. I am particularly drawn to experiential modalities such as art therapy and animal-assisted therapy, which I believe can unlock creative and healing pathways for self-expression and growth. I also incorporate person-centered techniques to foster trust and empowerment, ensuring each session is tailored to the unique needs of the individual.

My areas of interest include family counseling, where I aim to help strengthen relational dynamics, and trauma-informed care, supporting clients in processing and healing from past experiences. I am committed to active listening, cultural humility, and fostering meaningful connections to guide clients toward lasting change.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy exploring new places, immersing myself in music, especially Prince and 90s R&B. I also enjoy volunteering with the farm animals at the New Hampshire SPCA, as well as photography. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
