Growing up in New Hampshire, natural spaces were integral to my personal growth and development, and my collective experiences in the outdoors have shaped me as a clinician. After finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Neuroscience, I completed a Dual Master’s Degree in Social Work and Outdoor Education at the University of New Hampshire. This training taught me how to intentionally use wilderness and adventure experiences as treatment for mental illness. In over nine years in the mental health field, I have used this training in a number of different roles, including as a therapeutic adventure group facilitator, wilderness therapy field guide, and therapist at a wilderness therapy program in Utah. I believe that the outdoors, natural spaces, and movement are important elements of balanced wellness, and we can use these resources–in conjunction with traditional talk therapy and EMDR therapy–to meet your therapy goals. This could be something as active as walking in the woods to regulate your nervous system, or simply tending to a small house plant to feel grounded. If you’re interested in Walk & Talk therapy, please mention this when you call.
Whether we’re in the office or outside, I approach my work with clients through a trauma and attachment lens, meaning that I believe many of the challenges we face with our mental and emotional wellness can be traced back to traumatic or interpersonally disruptive experiences. As an IFS-informed therapist, I view the mind as naturally made up of various parts that are always trying to do what’s best for us. We all have the inner wisdom to work collaboratively with these parts and lead a more calm, connected, and confident Self-led life. This approach can be especially helpful when navigating negative or fearful thinking, relationship issues, trauma, and inner conflict. No matter what you’re looking to address in therapy, I will use a strengths-based perspective to help you discover new or existing strategies to embody your best self.
