Hello! I’m Oscar, Clinical Intern

As a clinical intern, I aim to provide a safe, grounded, and affirming space where clients can explore their experiences without judgment. I believe counseling works best when clients feel respected, understood, and actively involved in their own healing process.

How I Work

My counseling style is collaborative, person-centered, and culturally responsive. I draw from trauma-informed care, multicultural counseling, Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), clinical hypnosis, and depth-oriented approaches. I work from the belief that symptoms often make sense when understood in the context of a person’s life, relationships, culture, stress, trauma, and strengths. I support clients in building insight, developing practical coping skills, strengthening self-trust, and reconnecting with values that guide meaningful change.

My Background and Interests

I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at New England College.

I have a special interest in working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and additional identities (LGBTQ+) clients, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) clients, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, and recovery-related concerns. Outside of counseling, I enjoy Jungian psychology, mythology, spirituality, storytelling, and creative approaches to healing.
